ORFeome Libraries
The Xenopus ORFeome is the product of the NICHD-funded project (R01HD069352) which contains a comprehensive range of full-length, end sequence validated, high quality open reading frames (ORFs).
The EXRC houses 2 ORF libraries, the Xenopus laevis ORF 1.0 and the Xenopus tropicalis ORF 2.0
You can search for clones by entering gene symbols in the search box above and choosing Xla ORFeome, or Xtr ORFeome from the drop down menu.
Xenopus ORFs have been cloned into Gateway Donor vector pDONR223 to create entry vector clones ready for transfer to Gateway-compatible expression (destination) vectors. Details bellow.
Please note that the ORFs are cloned into pDONR223 without a stop codon. They are designed to be used with the destination vectors, which you can also obtain from the EXRC
Note, pDONR223 is spectinomycin resistant.
If you can not find the ORF you were looking for please let us know and we will include it on the wish list for ORFeome version 3.
ORFeome info
For detail info on what ORFeomes are please follow this link.
ORFeome plasmids are shipped as bacterial stubs on solid agar. These are inoculated and grown o/n at 37ºC. Once grown, they can be stable at room temperature for about 2 weeks allowing the shipment to be possible with normal post.
Once received, the plasmids can be stored at 4ºC for about 1 month.
To recover the plasmids, please follow the protocols described by Addgene.
