Oocytes
The EXRC supplies oocytes to many UK laboratories regularly and also to some on mainland Europe. This contributes to reducing the number of female Xenopus used for oocyte injection experiments. We have found it best to send oocytes out as dissected ovary lobes on wet ice but can provide defolliculated oocytes if necessary, albeit at extra cost. We prefer to send oocytes on a Monday and Wednesday. If you simply wish to do “one-off” experiments using oocytes then please consider using our “research hotel” service.
Embryos
EXRC supplies X. laevis or X. tropicalis embryos and froglets to labs across the world, both as live animals and fixed tissue. The costs and best methods of transport have to be calculated for each project so please contact Dr Ania Noble to discuss your requirements.
