Expression of GFP in blood vessels and lymphatic vessels.

The Xenopus laevis Flk1 (VEGFR-2) promoter and first intron were used to drive GFP.

Earliest specific GFP signal visible at stage 35-36 (in PCV and ISV). GFP signal in all blood vessels and lymphatic vessels from stage 42 onwards. See Figure 1 and Figure 2 in Ny et. al. Biol Open. 2013 Jul 11; 2(9):882-90.
A genomic fragment containing 2.5 kb of promoter sequence up to exon 2, including the complete intron 1 containing enhancer elements essential for the correct expression pattern, was isolated and cloned into pBSK(+) (Meadows et al., 2009 Dev 136, 1115-1125). Next, the eGFP cDNA fused to the SV40 polyA was inserted into exon 1 to drive reporter expression under the control of the xlFlk1 promoter.
